Dispatch
Let Perseus handle routine assignments automatically. Monitor crew schedules, review exceptions, and take control when needed.
How automatic dispatch works
When AUTONOMOUS mode is enabled for your environment, Perseus evaluates routine unassigned appointments in the background and automatically assigns an eligible technician after checking current workforce availability. You do not need to open Dispatch, click Evaluate, or click Assign. New bookings and meaningful operational changes trigger evaluation; a scheduled recovery sweep catches missed work. The Dispatch screen helps you monitor that work and handle exceptions.
Why a future appointment is still unassigned
Initial assignment does not wait for a dispatch window. New bookings are assigned automatically when an eligible technician has sufficient capacity. Work remains open if no technician qualifies, the appointment is expired, or human control is active.
Choose your day and location
Select an operational date and a location you can access. All, Unassigned, Starting soon, Late, No check-in and At risk narrow the view. Day overview summarizes the day's open work and crew coverage. A technician being listed does not mean they are available for every appointment.
Job queue and Timeline
Job queue lists open work and scheduled visits with status, technician and available Dispatch health information. In AUTONOMOUS mode, use Details to inspect a job rather than initiate assignment. Timeline shows technicians down the side and time across the top, with appointments in their scheduled slots. Switching views changes how you see the work; it does not change assignments.
Shift times and crew badges
Each scheduled shift appears on its own line when a technician has multiple shifts. Availability and Emergency hours badges stack beneath the shift times. Emergency hours identifies emergency coverage in the schedule; it does not override qualification, time off, conflicts or other assignment checks. Availability reflects the displayed operational time and can differ from availability for a future visit.
The collapsible Open work queue
In Timeline, unassigned appointments appear in Open work beside the technician lanes. Select the Open work header to collapse or expand the queue. The count stays visible while collapsed, and collapsing does not pause Perseus or remove appointments. Select a job to inspect its service window, address, eligibility information and details.
Understand Dispatch health
Awaiting dispatch means a job remains unassigned. Evaluating automatically identifies queued work; Automatic dispatch pending means a decision awaits guarded execution. Automatically dispatched by Perseus records an automatic assignment. Review suggested, No safe assignment and Provider unavailable explain exceptions. Reevaluation pending indicates an older decision needs fresh facts. Human controlled means an intentional override is authoritative. Read the job's details for the specific reason.
What Perseus checks before assigning
Assignment checks organization membership, service capability and qualification, location access, scheduled coverage, approved time off and appointment conflicts. Initial assignment ranks eligible technicians by estimated arrival, route impact and workload. Late arrival and unknown travel time are warnings rather than assignment blockers. Current eligibility and appointment facts are checked again before saving.
Manual override and human control
Authorized staff can open job details and choose Manual override to assign, change or remove a technician. Saving a manual assignment, reassignment or unassignment gives the appointment HUMAN control. Perseus may show warnings but will not automatically replace your choice. This control does not expire after a refresh, traffic change or recovery sweep. Removing a technician keeps the appointment scheduled and unassigned; it does not cancel the appointment.
Return to automatic dispatch
For a HUMAN-controlled appointment, choose Return to automatic dispatch in job details when you want Perseus to manage it again. Only authorized assignment staff can change control. This action lets the background worker automatically assign eligible unassigned work. Workforce availability and appointment lifecycle checks still apply.
When an automatic assignment can change
Perseus can reconsider an autonomous assignment after a meaningful change, such as time off, qualification or schedule changes. Reassignment requires stricter confidence and safety checks, comparable road routes and a substantial travel improvement. Cooldowns discourage repeated movement. HUMAN-controlled work and appointments already en route, on site, in progress or delayed are not automatically moved.
Exceptions and operational Tasks
Starting soon is an awareness signal. Unassigned near start, Late and No check-in help identify work needing attention; At risk includes a specific operational reason. Some exceptions create operational Tasks and notifications according to the organization's automation and recipient rules. Tasks resolve when the underlying exception resolves. Starting soon does not mean every job requires a manual action.
Job details and operational progress
Open a job to see its service window, technician, customer contact, notes, travel information and recorded decision when available. Update operational progress to en route, on site, in progress or delayed through the available status controls. Dispatch status describes field progress; appointments still own completion, cancellation and other business lifecycle actions. Required forms, work logs and signatures are not bypassed.
Notifications and assignment history
Automatic assignments use the same assignment history and notification flow as ordinary assignments, including customer and technician notices where configured. Reassignments preserve the change history. Background events and retries do not authorize duplicate assignments. Use the appointment workspace for the fuller activity history.
If a provider is unavailable or no safe fit is found
Initial assignment continues without AI approval or a travel estimate when an eligible technician is available. Missing routing is shown as unknown travel time. No eligible technician means the appointment remains open for attention. Temporary execution failures receive bounded retries and later recovery checks. Manual Dispatch remains available to authorized staff; an override establishes human control.
ASSISTED and OFF modes
ASSISTED mode keeps on-demand evaluation and guarded assignment approval available. OFF disables Dispatch Intelligence. Automatic operation depends on AUTONOMOUS being enabled and the background workers and recovery scheduler running in that environment. If the screen still asks you to Evaluate or Assign routine work, check the environment's mode with your administrator.
Permissions and location visibility
Technicians see their own assigned work. Dispatchers and managers remain within their authorized location scope unless granted broader visibility. Automatic execution also checks server-side authority. Road-travel estimates are not live GPS tracking, and a technician's home or planned location is not proof of their current position.
